As the world turns to greet night
And families return to their homes
Weary from the day and wary of the night
The skies applaud the sun for a day of work
Pulling blanket of stars over her head
She goes to her well earned rest
And creatures of twilight appear
They want to dance and sing and revel
For they only exist briefly each day
Betwixt the light and the dark
As I journeyed along my endeavor
Moving a creature of the day
I tempted the threshold of this time
Knowing full well I should be home
I had a final task to complete
Before my journey could be turned homeward
Where waited family and succor
Turning towards the blue hued mountains
I spied the doorway to the Faerie lands
The beauty shook and mesmerized me
Ancient walls coated in vibrant hues
Colors that mortal eyes don’t see
Moving along those walls
Beings coated in silver and gold
Danced and played and beckoned
And I wanted to join them
Eternal plays, feasts, and music
Not intended to entrance mortals
Yet still they called and
I longed to remain in that land
As I watched the door began to close
And the spell began to fade
Night pushed the immortal world back
In the mists where it dwells
Far beyond the reach of mortals
I was humble to have been given a glimpse
Of a world that few people see
Maybe one day I will journey there again
But for now I will turn towards home
With a seed of forever locked within me
